The Room Beneath the Floorboards

from Book of the Five Rings by Seppuku

/

lyrics

The blackout began
Captivating my sanctuary
The next day it continued
Those surroundings became polygons
And the buildings outside
And the bodies inside
Contours still illuminate
I build up from the rest
And I imagine the serenity
And destruct what once was
The memories I enshroud
It can start over
I ended up here
To bear with the absence of gain
The purpose
I want any meaning to return
Still the artists...

Outside my wall wait
The floorboards faded with pressure
And screams behind it
They won’t leave
And now that my eyes have left
Their return plagued by medication
But my will tires
And the stages of sleep long to encompass me
I can’t continue like this
The voices outside become a low chant
Further lulling me deeper out of my watch
I carve wood below me
I can feel them breathing
They can’t take me
I must stay
I am not safe alone
Please remember
I have no confidence
I will be gone soon enough
I wake in the room below
One light
Left for dead presumably
Bare concrete
Eyes open wanting
They must have got in
This is nothing I ever wanted
The eruption of vomit boiling through my parched throat
There facial shadows in the back of my mind
Burned into negatives
Trying to speak
Suffocating thoughts
Scourge throughout
A pulse of rhythmic inhaling
They step forward
I am pathetic
The tools begin to create
It must be beautiful to have such control
Underneath my body’s warm palette
Wounds exposed
Streaking colors
I did not want to die up here
I wanted to serve a purpose
Not now and I should have died
When it meant the most
Disjointed laughter
Emotion stagnant
A calm scene shaped to perfection
From the sun’s disregard
